I will soon be installing a completely re-written "Last edited by" modification,
I've noticed that the board isn't putting that notice on most of the edits being done by members AND the moderators .
I'll skip the explanation, but it wasn't a software bug or anything.
but this how it
will work in the future....
For the Members:
when you create a new post, you will have
60 minutes to edit it,
after that, the post is locked, and no more edits are allowed, Mods can edit posts anytime, just as before .
the
first 5 minutes after a new post is posted, you can edit the post
without the "
Last edited by <yourname>" being displayed,
but if you edit it again during the next 55 minutes, it will be shown .
For the Moderators:
it should work exactly the same way
on your own posts only,
on other members posts, your name will show up, even it the post is less than 5 minutes old .
I also turned on "
Lock post [Prevent editing]" by default, so the member being edited can't come back and re-edit the post within the 60 min window .
I'd like to have the board automatacally send a PM to a member when their post is
deleted but that's a bit more complicated, and I dont know when (or if) I will get around to writing that

comments & suggestions welcome, as usual
